LOCATION~ The entrance to the ranch is located 31 miles west of Marfa, TX, 2 miles east of Valentine, TX, and approx. 26 miles west from Fort Davis, TX. The entrance has an attractive landscaped Spanish style gate house, manned during the daylight hours for visitor and guest registration and check in.
HEADQUARTER IMPROVEMENTS~ The headquarters, Camp Chinati, is an attractive compound with four Spanish style homes with arched faced covered porches. One residence serves as Camp Chinati’s office and owner’s quarters. One residence is for guests and two residences are for the ranch foreman and employees. CARRYING CAPACITY~ This ranch has consistently and conservatively been operated for decades by previous owners as a 500 to 550 animal unit ranch depending on rainfall and the owner’s preference in stocking rate and pasture management. TERRAIN~ The terrain of the ranch varies from broad tobosa grass and grama grass flats with deep soils and shallow overflow draws on the west 1/2 of the ranch changing to grama grass covered rolling hills and draws to broad shallow canyons and volcanic outcroppings and scenic low mountainous terrain on the east 1/2 of the ranch along the Scenic Loop Highway.
WILDLIFE~ The El Paseo de San Antonio Ranch has always been operated primarily as an operating cattle ranch with little emphasis on hunting. However, it offers exceptional hunting for blue quail, mourning and whitewing dove hunting during migrations. the ranch offers hunting for desert mule deer, pronghorn antelope, aoudad sheep, and predators. The ranch also offers recreational opportunities and enjoyment for four-wheeling, photography of landscapes, plant life, and native and migratory birds and raptors.
